While Smokey’s Bar-B-Que is open seven days a week, the exhibits in the remainder of the depot are not. This summer, you can see the exhibits on weekends. We’re open Saturday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. These hours are subject to change, depending on volunteer availability.
If you’d like to verify we’ll be open or if you’re traveling through the area and would like to request a special tour of the depot, contact us through our web site. Please note that the phone number currently listed on our web site is now used by Smokey’s Bar-B-Que. They probably won’t know if we’re are going to be open or not.
If you haven’t been to the depot in awhile, we’ve added a railway post office mail sorter and this handcrafted model of a Milwaukee Road bi-polar electric locomotive made mostly from wood. We don’t know why the builder painted it green. Maybe they liked green or made a guess based on a black and white photo? We thank Tom Kermen for donating this interesting, well-crafted example of how the Milwaukee Road electrification has inspired model builders for nearly a century.
Please come for a visit! Parking is FREE at the depot if you’re visiting the depot or the rail yard. Trail users should park at the trailhead east of the depot and display a Discover Pass.
