Spring work parties and open houses in April and May

This spring we will be having two combined work party/open house events at the South Cle Elum Rail Yard.

They will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 and Saturday, May 18.

The May event will coincide with the John Wayne Pioneer Wagons and Riders Association morning departure from South Cle Elum as they continue their ride across the state.

Tasks during the work party could include:

  • Vegetation control
  • Depot clean up (interior dusting, window washing, preparing walls for paint)
  • Substation interior and exterior clean up

State Parks will be leading a power tool safety training class at 10 a.m. during the April 27 work party. This is required for power tool use in the South Cle Elum Rail Yard.

We’d love to have you join our volunteer work crew that will be cleaning up the rail yard, substation, and depot. If you can’t volunteer, drop by and visit. CRF Board members and other volunteers will be available to answer questions. If you are interested in volunteering as a depot host this summer, these events would be a great opportunity to learn more about it.

If you can join our work crew, please RSVP using the form below so we can plan the work and contact you if plans change.

Show up dressed for dirty work and bring your favorite work gloves and any other appropriate personal protection equipment.

Bring your own tools if you can. Hand tools for vegetation trimming and pruning would be useful. Also weed whackers, small chain saws, and power trimmers if you are able to attend the power tool safety training on April 27.
