Program

Gary Pember will be sharing stories of the the Milwaukee Road locomotive shops at Tacoma, discussing the history of the facility and his memories of his time working there.

As the son of a Milwaukee Road diesel mechanic of 27 years, Gary developed his love for the railroad at an early age when his father would take him along on road trips to repair locomotives. After an honorable discharge from the United States Navy in 1970, Gary started serving his railroad apprenticeship at the Milwaukee Road’s Tacoma Roundhouse and stayed there until the end of Milwaukee Road operations in 1980.
