Depot docents needed!

We aim to have the exhibit area in the depot open to the public every Saturday between noon and 4 p.m. from Memorial Day through the end of September. We need more depot docents to make this happen.

What’s a docent? Basically, a docent is a volunteer guide in a museum. For us though, it would be more accurate to think of our docents as hosts. Our docents open up the depot, greet visitors, answer questions, keep an eye on things, and sometimes sell souvenirs like t-shirts. Some understanding of the history of the railroad is helpful, but not required. You can learn pick up the history as you go.

Being a volunteer docent at the depot doesn’t have to be a major time commitment. A handful of volunteers opening the depot a couple Saturdays over the summer could keep the depot open throughout the season.
