JUNE 28:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another anonymous donor has stepped forward with an exciting fundraising challenge that helps both the 5057 Project and the overall development of the South Cle Elum Rail Yard Interpretive Center!<\/p>\n

\"graph1\"<\/a>For each $1.00 donated to the 5057 Project between now and August 31, 2012<\/strong> (up to $1,000), the donor will contribute $1.00 to the Cascade Rail Foundation Capital Fund in memory of a longtime supporter (the late Colleen McKee Hawley), and a private corporate foundation will match that $1.00 with an additional $1.00 contribution to the 5057 Project.<\/p>\n

In other words, if we can raise another $1,000 in new donations to the 5057 Project over the next two months, we will end up with a total of $2,000 donated to the 5057 project and also increase the Capital Fund by $1,000.<\/p>\n

The Cascade Rail Foundation Capital Fund is dedicated to supporting major capital improvements at the South Cle Elum Rail Yard Interpretive Center, such as the purchase of Substation Operator Bungalow #1, the rehabilitation of the Substation, and other similar projects that are part of the Strategic Plan for developing the Interpretive Center.<\/p>\n

JUNE 22:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"5057<\/a>Gary Pember brought by the nearly-completed picture of the 5057 in Cle Elum for a sneak peak.\u00a0 He has titled it \u201cDead Freight East\u201d and it depicts Cle Elum as it was in 1979.\u00a0 We\u2019re very fortunate that Gary has chosen to share his artistic talent with us. Everyone who donates at least $505.70 (through either a single donation or multiple donations) to the project will receive a print of this artwork as a thank you!<\/a>\u00a0 Here is a photo:<\/p>\n

JUNE 15:<\/strong><\/p>\n

We now have a signed purchase agreement for the 5057 with Feather River Rail Society and have made the first payment of $10,000 toward the $25,000 purchase price of the locomotive.\u00a0 We need to raise the remainder by March 1, 2013.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
