We did it! The Friends of the 5057 met the latest donation challenge by contributing a little more than $1,000 to the 5057 Project between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Many thanks to all our supporters who made this happen, both the donors and those who helped spread the word.
The past year has been a pretty good one for the 5057 Project as we’ve made steady progress toward our goal of getting the 5057 to South Cle Elum. The work continues next year. We are getting very close to raising the amount needed to complete our purchase of the 5057 by March 1, 2013. After that, we start the fundraising to bring it back to Washington and complete a cosmetic restoration of the locomotive. Then we keep working to raise the money needed to transport it to the South Cle Elum Rail Yard Interpretive Center and shelter it there. Our goal is to complete the project by July 2015. We have a lot left to do, but every forward step (no matter how small) gets us closer. THANK YOU to all who have helped move this project forward in 2012!!!
